Revitalized skin beauty market, which COVID-19 has shrunk
The Korean Society of Obesity and Aesthetic Body Plastics (from now on referred to as KOAP) held the 28th symposium under the theme of 'Beyond Corona, Aesthetic Medical field with the KOAP at COEX, Seoul on the 13th. Lectures by various experts who lead Korean beauty, anti-aging, and functional medicine fields, offered a forum for communication to share knowledge and know-how.
In this conference, approximately 80 medical device manufacturers raised the expectation toward a revitalized market that has shrunk due to COVID-19. We will introduce medical devices and products that were welcome with high technology at this conference site.
■New Pont: LLSA
The world's thinnest 0.9mm-diameter probe was developed for the first time. It is a liposuction device optimized for the face by dissolving fat only through the needle hole without incision or suturing. Elsa utilizes the 'Deep Sono Algorithm,' which maintains a constant output by detecting frequencies in real-time. It can treat the face and elaborate areas challenging to treat with conventional liposuction devices, such as floating chambers, calves, and double chin. Picocare Majesty is laser equipment with picosecond performance with a pulse duration shorter than one nanosecond. This product, an end yard-based laser, provides high output with a short pulse width of 250 picoseconds and implements four types of multi-wavelength: 1064nm, 532nm, 595nm, and 660nm. It has several advantages: it can selectively remove the pigment, break it into more delicate pieces, and minimize thermal damage to the surrounding tissue. As a medical device that the US FDA has already approved, it will be in the spotlight in Korea and abroad.

Shrink Universe is a focused ultrasound device that employs the principle of high-intensity focused ultrasound on regenerating collagen and improving skin elasticity. It utilizes seven cartridges by adding a pen-type handpiece to the first-generation Shrink. This new technology enables detailed treatment on localized and curved areas such as the eye area, pharynx, and nasolabial folds, which were previously problematic to treat. In addition, compared to the conventional irradiation of heat energy only in the form of dots, this product irradiates in two forms, a dot and a line, to expand the scope of the treatment and reduce the treatment time the pain burden.
